File 002 · Method

Every investigation follows the same four steps.

You name a competitor. Motivestone does the collecting, the reading and the writing, and hands you a short list of things to do.

  1. 01

    Name the target

Type a competitor's brand or website. Motivestone finds every public ad library page that belongs to it, across platforms.

    About 2 minutes
  2. 02

    Collect the evidence

Active ads, start dates, formats, copy and landing pages are pulled into one file and refreshed every 6 hours.

    Same day
  3. 03

    Read the motive

AI notes the hooks, offers and likely winners, then compares them with what your own buyers respond to.

    Within 24 hours
  4. 04

    Act on it

Score your next ad, move budget to what works and get three actions every Monday. You approve every change.

    Every week

Files 003 to 008 · The product

Six files on your desk. Each one answers a question you pay for every week.

File 002 · Competitor intelligence

Competitor Ad Files

Every ad your competitors are paying to run, in one file.

  • Run-time ranking. Ads are sorted by days live. An ad still running after 30 days usually means it pays for itself, so it is marked as a likely winner.
  • Hook extraction. The opening line or first frame of every ad is pulled out and grouped, so you see the five or six angles a competitor keeps returning to.
  • Offer tracking. Discounts, free delivery, bundles and trial offers are logged with dates, which exposes patterns like "20% off every second weekend".

File 003 · Pre-launch testing

Creative Scorer

Score a draft ad before you pay to find out it does not work.

  • Hook strength. Measures whether the first two seconds, or the first line of copy, give a reason to stop scrolling.
  • Product visibility. Checks how quickly and how clearly the product appears, and whether it is recognisable at feed size.
  • Offer clarity. Looks for the offer, price or reason to act, and flags it when it appears too late or too small.

File 004 · Buyer psychology

Motive Map

Find out why your buyers actually buy.

  • Motive share. A clear percentage for each motive, based on which ads and search terms brought in paying buyers, not just clicks.
  • Suggested angles. For each motive, three ad angles and example hooks written in your brand voice.
  • Gap check. Shows when most of your ads speak to one motive while most of your buyers respond to another.

File 005 · Budget planning

Spend Allocator

Put your budget where it is already working.

  • Weekly plan. A proposed budget per campaign for the week ahead, with the reasoning written next to each line.
  • Fatigue warnings. Flags ads whose results are falling as frequency rises, before they drag a campaign down.
  • Cross-platform view. Compares cost per order across platforms on the same basis, so the split is fair.

File 006 · Post-click review

Landing Page Check

A red-pen review of the page your ads pay to send people to.

  • Load time. Time until the main content and the buy button are visible, with the heaviest files named.
  • Offer match. Checks that the price, discount and product in the ad appear on the page above the fold.
  • Form length. Counts fields and flags the ones you can safely remove or move to a later step.

File 008 · Reporting

Weekly Briefing

One typed page every Monday. What happened, and what to do next.

  • Competitor moves. New launches, paused winners and offer changes from every competitor you track, in a few lines.
  • Your results. Spend, orders and return compared with last week, with the reason for any big change.
  • Best and worst ad. The ad that earned the most and the ad that wasted the most, with screenshots.

Read a real case file, page by page.

This is what Motivestone produced for a packaged coffee brand tracking one competitor. Flip through the pages the way you would on day three of your trial.

Analyst verdict

UrbanBrew leans on convenience, not taste. Their price offer repeats on a fixed rhythm, so a counter-offer on their off weekends will meet less competition.

File 010 · Before and after

Before

  • Screenshots of competitor ads pasted into a spreadsheet
  • Guessing which ads work from likes and comments
  • Launching a draft and waiting a week to see if it flops

With Motivestone

  • Every competitor ad filed automatically, with history
  • Run time and variant count flag the likely winners
  • A creative score with fixes before you spend
  • A weekly budget plan with the reason for every line
  • One typed page every Monday, with three actions

File 011 · Trend Brief

Spot the next winning format while it is still cheap.

The Trend Brief reads every public ad in your category, not only the brands you track. It flags formats, hooks and offers spreading across several brands at once, and scores each one against your own buyers.

  • Rising and fading formats, with first-seen dates
  • Offer climate: how deep discounts are running this month
  • Fit score from your Motive Map, so you skip trends that will not suit you
